The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand and Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) organised International Conference on ‘Circular Economy and Technology Transfer for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises’. The conference was organised on 23 September 2020 at Bangkok, Thailand and was held in hybrid mode i.e. international participants joined through a virtual platform.
The conference witnessed participation of over 70 participants comprising government officials, research scientists, private sector representatives, technology intermediaries, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other relevant stakeholders pertaining to bio-circular-green (BCG) economy and technology transfer. Experts from India, Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam as well as from ESCAP shared their perspectives, views on policy options, experiences, case studies and best practices with the participants at the conference. The experts deliberated on: circular and BCG economy concepts, practices and policy options; BCG innovations and best practices for SMEs; BCG technologies for sustainable development and strategies for their commercialization and adoption. The conference also facilitated regional cooperation among member countries to advance technology transfer for circular economy and identified strategies to empower SMEs to develop, adopt and adapt technologies for circular economy.
