The Sixteenth Session of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held on 2-3 December 2020. Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China was the co-organizer for the session of Governing Council, along with APCTT. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, arrangements were made for the international delegates to join the session through a virtual platform.
The session was attended by eleven Governing Council member countries of APCTT - Bangladesh, People’s Republic of China, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Uzbekistan. Representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines also attended the session as observer countries.
The Governing Council session witnessed deliberations on following key agenda items: review of the activities of the Centre carried out during the reporting period December 2019 to November 2020; review of the technical, financial and administrative matters concerning the operations of APCTT; and deliberations of the programme of work for the Centre for 2021. During the session, the Centre also received proposals from the member States for joint work or organization of events to be conducted in 2021 in their countries.
