APCTT organised a workshop on Enhancing Innovation and Competitiveness of MSMEs in Response to the ASEAN Integration for Agro-enterprise in partnership with the Technology Application Promotion Institute (TAPI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) and DOST-Region XI. Effective technology transfer demands a wide range of technical, business and regulatory skills. Capacity is needed to assess, select, import, develop and adapt appropriate technologies. The workshop was expected to strengthen the knowledge base of key stakeholders, especially MSMEs involved in agriculture and agro-food processing on best practices in enhancing innovation and competiveness towards enhancing their overall productivity and income generation. The workshop provided inputs on technology transfer process; develop business cases; prepare technology sourcing; assess technology; select technology; price technology; negotiate; finalize contracts; implement impact assessments. The technology transfer facilitation activities were viewed holistically to include technology transfer planning right through to implementation and assimilation. The workshop attracted over 25 participants representing a wide range of stakeholder groups including, government, private sector, academic institutions, MSMEs as well as regulatory agencies in the agriculture sector in the Philippines.
