The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand and Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) organised regional workshop on ‘Technology Transfer - Renewable Energy Technologies for Climate Change Mitigation’. The workshop was organised on 24-25 September 2020 at Bangkok, Thailand and was held in hybrid mode i.e. international participants joined through a virtual platform.
The workshop brought together 83 participants comprising policy makers, government officials, scientists, private sector representatives, technology intermediaries and other stakeholders. The workshop deliberated on policies and strategies, institutional and financial mechanisms, and innovative business models for renewable energy technology transfer, adoption and deployment. Experts from India, Japan, Republic of Korea and Thailand as well as from ESCAP and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) shared their perspectives and experiences pertaining to renewable energy technology transfer, adoption and deployment. The workshop contributed in promotion of regional cooperation for cross-border transfer, diffusion and deployment of renewable energy technologies. It also assisted in enhancing the knowledge and understanding on policies and strategies to promote renewable energy technologies for climate change mitigation.
