The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) organised an event on Strategic Priorities for Adoption of Emerging Technologies in the Energy Sector for Climate Change Mitigation on 24 May 2022 as a side event to ESCAP 78th Commission session. The event was jointly organized with Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Emerging technologies play a vital role across sectors in mitigating the impacts of climate change. They are innovative, cutting edge, often disruptive. With many innovative applications in the energy sector, they offer advantages such as efficiency improvement, emissions reduction, reliability, and cost optimization. Enabling policy and strategy options are essential to facilitate transfer and diffusion of emerging technologies across the region. The event provided a platform for policy makers and practitioners to deliberate on 1) The regional priorities for transfer and diffusion of emerging technologies among member States and 2) Explored strategies to facilitate regional cooperation for cross-border sharing of emerging technologies in the energy sector. Over 120 participants from member countries attended the event.
