Biodiesel (Australia)
As you are probably aware the dramatic rush for alternatives to fossil fuel is gaining momentum, particularly in certain regions of the world, India being one such. Indeed, one country Brazil, is now self sufficient in biodiesel and does not require any imported oil of this type. In addition, there are many countries throughout the world where different and varied foodstocks are used to extract raw oil, such as rape, Soya, coconut et al. Our researches, however, have identified Jatropha as being the most fertile, consistent in extraction rates and possessing a good longevity. At the present time the refining of biodiesel from the various feedstocks is carried out on a large scale; upwards of 4000 litres per day is the norm. As a result the growers are forced to transport their feedstocks to the refinery thereby incurring extra cost and as a result lowering potential profit. Moreover, once the oil is refined in these large operations, the small communities which grow the seeds, are unable to use the pure oil for their own use. As a departure from the large scale refining process the Biofuel Partnership have developed a unique system of refining the oil which is a totally self contained continuous production system, ideal for small, less affluent communities. It is called the bioCube. Very simply, the oil bearing fruit is pressed to separate the raw oil from the flesh. The oil is then subjected to the transesterification process, dry washed, filtered and polished, to ensure the resulting methyl ester is free of impurities, leaving a biodiesel with a Ph of 7 +/- 0.2 and conforming to EN14214. The whole procedure occurs within one compact production unit. The bioCube would be in a position to save money and most importantly provide an economic value to the poor and disenfranchised communities. Biofuel Partnership would endeavour to become a major driving force in providing the small communities with an economic and social lifeline. Planning on the ground for helping, motivating, training and providing knowledge in order the villages and communities are able to extract economic worth from the Cube is currently underway.
