Mobile Water Purification Unit for Safe Drinking water
The mobile disaster management unit (DMU) was developed by Ion Exchange India to meet the critical need for safe drinking water during disasters such as droughts, cyclones, floods and earthquake. During such times water supplies get contaminated with suspended solids, dirt, clay and pathogenic bacteria, spreading disease and epidemics. The DMU is compact, containerised and skid-mounted; it can be mounted on a truck and quickly transported to affected areas. It can treat any kind and quality of surface or high salinity ground water to produce drinking water conforming to international standards; it can also treat chemically contaminated water. Moreover, treatment plants specifically for removal or iron, arsenic, nitrates or fluoride can be added on when required. In addition to the MDU, Ion Exchange India has also developed few other technologies which can be used for safe drinking water purposes. Zero-B Srijal Low cost disinfecting unit does not require piped water or electricity. Based on the principle of siphoning and designed for easy use, Zero-B Srijal is simply placed into a container of water and the outlet hooked onto a clean container. Pumping the pneumatic bellow twice starts the water trickling through the pipe. Then opening the outlet stopper ensures a steady flow into the container. Water passing through Srijal undergoes a two-stage purification process. First, a filter pad removes suspended dirt and mud, then the water passes through a Zero-B resin chamber where harmful bacteria and viruses are eliminated. Zero-B Suraksha An economical on-tap purifier based on the Zero-B resin technology. The unit is simple, convenient and does not require electricity. Jalshudhi Disinfection Capsules Developed by the Ion Exchange India's R&D group, the low-cost, ready and easy-to-use Jalshudhi capsules produce 100 per cent sediment and bacteria-free water. Jalshudhi not only effectively disinfects water, eliminating E-coli, but can even purify muddy, turbid water. It is therefore ideal for use in rural areas of India and developing countries, and during disasters such as earthquakes and floods. The capsules come in two capacities - Jalshudhi-01 can purify 1 litre of water and Jalshudhi-05 can purify 5 litres. The residual purifying effect lasts 48 hours.
