Macrofilaricidal Agent
The present invention relates to a novel composition for the treatment and/or prevention of filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi, Brugia timori, Loa Loci, and Setaria digitnta. The monoterpene derivatives having phenolic characteristics have been revealed to possess macrofilaricidal properties isolated from dried fruits of Trachyspermum ammi (Apiaceae) (perennial shrub found throughout India) which is macrofilaricidally potent for treatment or prevention of short and permanent-long term Filariasis in mammals, including humans. The methanolic extract of the active component is carried out using different alcohol type.
