The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia organised international workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer’ on 19 November 2020 at Jakarta, Indonesia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arrangements were made for international speakers and participants to join the workshop through virtual platform.
The workshop deliberated on policy framework for intellectual property and technology transfer – global and national perspectives; intellectual property management tools, strategies and best practices; and collaborative research to enhance technology transfer through Science and Technology Parks. Experts from India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, and Thailand as well as from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) shared their perspectives and experiences related to intellectual property management, technology transfer and licensing. Case studies and best practices from different countries were also shared by the speakers. The workshop brought together over 100 participants comprising policy makers, representatives from government agencies, academia, R&D institutions and technology-based enterprises and other relevant stakeholders from Indonesia and several Asia-Pacific countries.
