The self-paced modules on Technology Transfer are designed to address the urgent need for capacity-building for Science, Technology and Innovation actors in the Asia-Pacific region to enhance climate resilience and sustainable development. These modules focus on equipping key stakeholders—policymakers, academic institutions, private sectors, and research entities—with the necessary skills and knowledge to overcome barriers in climate technology adoption and transfer. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to build climate resilience, improve regulatory frameworks, and drive the adoption of sustainable technologies across the region.
The Need for Capacity Building on Transfer of Technology
The Asia-Pacific region faces significant climate-related vulnerabilities, including extreme poverty, high pollution levels, and increased disaster displacement. Moreover, the technology transfer process is often hampered by factors like limited technical expertise, regulatory frameworks, and financing mechanisms. The adoption of climate technologies requires not only technical knowledge but also an understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) rights, regulatory frameworks, and commercialisation strategies.
The Capacity Building Modules will help create a robust ecosystem for climate technology transfer by targeting key stakeholders involved in climate policy, innovation, and technology deployment. This comprehensive program supports regional and global climate goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement, while contributing to the region’s socioeconomic growth through the successful commercialisation of climate innovations.
Detailed modules for this capacity-building training are being designed.
